Gruber is 100% correct here. Google just wants to be allowed to do whatever they want and they’ve gone so long without scrutiny that they as a company are completely ill-equipped to handle it.
Key quotes:
“So if Google had acquired the rights to these patents, that would have been OK. But when others acquired them, it’s a “hostile, organized campaign”.
“…it’s OK for Google to bid over $3.14 billion, but when Apple and Microsoft bid $4.5 billion, that’s “way beyond what they’re really worth”. And if these patents are “bogus”, why was Google willing to pay anything for them, let alone pi billion dollars?”
HA! More dirt on the also-ran of mobile OS’.
More bad news for Android users. I disagree with the writers implications. I agree that competition in any market is good. However why is it wrong for a company or individual to protect their patented innovations? I think this comment hits the nail on the head: “How about Android putting out a better product instead of using Apple technology and calling it Android?”
LOL x 2!! No but seriously, Windows… phones?
LOL. Also, Windows is trying to do phones now? Oy vey.
